New Poems from Takacs

New poems by fourth-year student Eszter Takacs appear in Alice Blue and in Ampersand Review. The "Breakaway" poems in Alice Blue arose as an effort to fill the gaps in some of Sappho's fragments. Also head over to Ampersand to read "The Godlake Serenade," "Letter to the Dignitary of Pavlov's Galaxy" and "Dear Hamster."

Nichol Named Write A House Finalist


Alum Katie Nichol (2013) has been named a finalist for the 2015 Detroit Write A House! This unique program offers vocational training to local youth as they renovate a vacant, foreclosed home. The house is then awarded to a talented writer, chosen from a nationwide pool of applicants.  Katie, one of 10 writers in the running for the house, was selected as a finalist by renowned poet Billy Collins.

Greeott Named ALTA Travel Fellow

Congratulations to third-year student Anne Greeott, one of five emerging translators in the nation to be named a 2015 ALTA Travel Fellow! The fellowship offers funds to travel to the American Literary Translators Association conference in Tucson this October.
