McCombs Awarded 2015 Porter Prize

We're proud to announce that our director, Davis McCombs, has been awarded the 2015 Porter Fund Literary Prize! One of the state's most prestigious literary awards, the Porter Prize annually honors an Arkansas writer who has made distinguished contributions to the field of literature. Congratulations, Davis!

Nickol Awarded Beacon Street Prize for Fiction

Congratulations to alum Ben Nickol (2011), whose story "Tenants" won the 2015 Beacon Street Prize from the journal Redivider! Another of Ben's stories, "Safe," can be read in the current issue of Boulevard. And look for his collection Where the Wind Can Find It, which will be published later this year by Queen's Ferry Press. We're proud of you, Ben!

MFA Students Named International Fellows

Three students with ties to the Program in Creative Writing & Translation have won prestigious fellowships to pursue studies abroad! Recent graduates Kathleen Heil and Max Thompson and former MFA student Kaveh Bassiri are among the nine students selected this year as Sturgis International Fellows. Heil's project will take her to Berlin while Bassiri and Thompson are headed to Iran and Russia respectively. Read more about their projects and destinations!
