Kathleen Heil Translates "Bees" for Guernica

The latest issue of Guernica features second-year student Kathleen Heil, who translated the story "Bees" by Argentinian author Patricio Pron: "It happened in summer, when bees are at their busiest making honey, and they fly around endlessly in flaxen arcs like inhabitants of a sprawling city." 

"Empty Room" in The Bitter Oleander

Pick up a copy of the Spring 2013 issue of The Bitter Oleander, which includes work by first-year translation student Anne Greeott. Anne co-translated, with Susan Sola, the poem "Empty Room" by Chilean writer Eugenia Toledo.

Two Poems by Chloe Honum

The Journal features two taut and tender poems by alumna Chloe Honum (2010).

Chloe's poems have appeared in The Paris Review, Poetry, The Southern Review, and elsewhere, and were included in Best New Poets 2008 and 2010. Her first collection, The Tulip-Flame, was a finalist for the 2012 Yale Younger Poets Prize. She is the recipient of a Ruth Lilly Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation, an Isabella Gardner Residency Fellowship from the MacDowell Colony, and a Tennessee Williams Scholarship from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. She holds a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.F.A. from the University of Arkansas. During the summer of 2012, Chloe served as the writer-in-residence at the Kerouac House in Orlando.

Donovan & Brock in New Ohio Review

The Arkansas MFA program has two representatives in the new issue of New Ohio Review: fourth-year student Aran Donovan's beautiful sonnet, "Short Lists on a Diagnosis," and professor Geoff Brock's short essay on translating Umberto Eco, which closes the issue.
